I International Workshop on Biotechnology for Applied Life Sciences 2024

El 1er Taller Internacional de Biotecnología aplicada a las Ciencias de la Vida 2024 (BALS 2024), organizado por la Universidad de Granada (Departamento de Biología Celular y Departamento de Física Aplicada, UGR – España) y la Università degli Studi del Piemonte Orientale (Departamento de Ciencias de la Salud, UPO – Italia) tendrá lugar en el Campus de Fuentenueva, Facultad de Ciencias, Universidad de Granada (España) el 7 de junio de 2024. El evento se organiza como una actividad de divulgación dentro del proyecto GLIOBUSTERS (PID2021.124OA.I00; MICIN & AEI) y del grupo de investigación BIOTHERA-Lab (UGR). El avance constante en biotecnología hace esencial adoptar en investigación un enfoque multidisciplinar que abarque desde el diseño de nuevos biomateriales hasta el desarrollo de nuevas terapias génicas. En BALS 2024, queremos mostrar a los nuevos investigadores las técnicas y herramientas más avanzadas que se están desarrollando en el campo de los biomateriales, la terapia génica, la neurociencia y la biología celular y molecular, con aplicaciones desde la medicina hasta el medio ambiente, entre otras. BALS 2024 tiene como objetivo reunir a jóvenes investigadores y profesionales provenientes de disciplinas como microbiología, biotecnología, bioquímica, medicina, biología, neurociencia, ciencias de los materiales y genética. El objetivo principal es ofrecer un amplio espectro de los diferentes campos de aplicación de la biotecnología a los investigadores en etapa inicial de su carrera investigadora y estimular su creatividad científica profundizando en su conocimiento en esta área específica. Finalmente, nuestro objetivo también es fomentar nuevas colaboraciones y fortalecer las ya establecidas entre los participantes. La Facultad de Ciencias (UGR) y la dinámica ciudad de Granada brindan un entorno ideal para este evento. The 1st International Workshop on Biotechnology for Applied Life Sciences 2024 (BALS 2024) is being organized by the Universidad de Granada (Dept. of Cell Biology and Dept. of Applied Physics, UGR – Spain) and the Università degli Studi del Piemonte Orientale (Dept. of Health Sciences, UPO – Italy). It will be held in the Fuentenueva Campus, Faculty of Science, University of Granada (Spain) on 7th June 2024. The event is organized within the activities of the GLIOBUSTERS project (PID2021.124OA.I00; MICIN & AEI) and the BIOTHERA-Lab (UGR). Given the relentless progress in biotechnology, embracing multidisciplinary and cross-disciplinary strategies has become imperative, spanning from novel biomaterial design to the latest genetic-based therapies. BALS 2024 seeks to present to early career researchers the most promising advancing techniques and devices rooted in biomaterials, RNA therapy, neuroscience, cell and molecular biology with applications spanning from medicine to environmental domains. BALS 2024 aims to unite scholars and professionals from academia and industry across disciplines such as microbiology, biotechnology, biochemistry, medicine, biology, neuroscience, material sciences and genetics. The primary goal is to give a broad spectrum of the different fields of applications of biotechnology disciplines to early career researchers and stimulate their scientific creativity by deepening their knowledge in this specific area. Finally, we also aim to foster synergies, fortify existing partnerships, and forge new ones within the participants. The Faculty of Science of UGR and the dynamic and bustling city of Granada provides an ideal setting for this event.
