VIII JORNADAS DE BIOINFORMÁTICA

A través de las diferentes ponencias programadas, se pretende dar una visión general del tema de la Bioinformática. Se incluirán así mismo ejemplos de aplicaciones prácticas de la Informática dentro del área de la Biociencia y Biomedicina (neurociencias y enfermedades complejas, genética y epigenética, diagnóstico molecular, entre muchos otros.). Estas jornadas no pretenden ser un simple acto de divulgación científica, sino también una orientación profesional y empresarial, así como para el emprendimiento. Las jornadas contarán con la presencia de ponentes con una amplia relevancia internacional. Las Jornadas cerrarán con una mesa redonda donde se podrá discutir sobre el presente y futuro de este área de interés, así como las necesidades de formación necesarias para formar un perfil relevante. Para complementar la realización de las Jornadas, se realizarán talleres online relacionados con el contenido de las Jornadas, así como una competición “Datathon” en colaboración con la empresa Genyo y PerkinElmer (premio al mejor TFM 2022 en el área de bioinformática). El contenido y temas asociados están abiertos a toda la comunidad universitaria, con la posibilidad de reconocer 1 crédito ETCS. En cualquier caso, es necesario indicar que las ponencias estarán orientados especialmente a los alumnos y profesores de los siguientes grados: Grado en Biología, Grado en Bioquímica, Grado en Biotecnología y Grado en Informática. De ésta manera también se pretende poner en relieve la necesidad de disponer de cierta formación sobre computación en dichos ámbitos. De igual manera, conllevaría un alto interés para aquellos alumnos que cursen másteres relacionados con la Biotecnología, Biología Molecular y el análisis inteligente de datos, por ser el área de la Bioinformática una de las más interesantes para la aplicación de la Ciencia de Datos. Through the different scheduled presentations, the aim is to give an overview of the subject of Bioinformatics. It will also include examples of practical applications of Informatics in the area of Bioscience and Biomedicine (neurosciences and complex diseases, genetics and epigenetics, molecular diagnostics, among many others). These conferences are not intended to be a simple act of scientific dissemination, but also a professional and business orientation, as well as for entrepreneurship. The conference will be attended by speakers with a wide international relevance. The conference will close with a round table to discuss the present and future of this area of interest, as well as the training needs necessary to form a relevant profile. To complement the conference, there will be online workshops related to the content of the conference, as well as a “Datathon” competition in collaboration with the company Genyo and PerkinElmer (award for the best TFM 2021 in the area of bioinformatics). The content and associated topics are open to the entire university community, with the possibility of recognizing 1 ETCS credit. In any case, it is necessary to indicate that the presentations will be oriented especially to students and teachers of the following degrees: Degree in Biology, Degree in Biochemistry, Degree in Biotechnology and Degree in Computer Science. In this way it is also intended to emphasize the need for achieving certain computational training in said areas. Additionally, it will be of high interest for those students enrolled in master degrees related to Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, and intelligent data analysis, as the Bioinformatics area is one of the most interesting for the application of Data Science.
