Welcome

We are pleased to invite you to participate to ToScAl’And, the International Workshop on Total Scattering for Nanotechnology in Al’Andalus. ToScAl’And intends to offer an extended overview on theory, experiments and modeling of Scattering Techniques, from X-ray to visible light, aiming at a comprehensive, multiple length scale investigation of engineered nanomaterials and nanostructures towards their advanced applications.
The event is open to scholars and scientists in any area related to Nanoscience and Nanotechnology and it is especially addressed to PhD students, postdocs and young researchers.

About

ToScAl’And is a workshop fully dedicated to forefront characterization methods based on scattering techniques (from X-rays to visible light), aiming at the multiple (atomic and nanometer) length scale investigation of engineered nanomaterials.

Despite the flourishing growth of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology worldwide, the investigation of nanostructures and nanoscaled materials at the atomic scale remains a challenging task. Aim of the Workshop is to deepen both theoretical and applied frontier developments of the different scattering techniques, potentially covering length scales up to six decades, if complementarities and possible combinations are properly exploited, as will be done in ToScAl’And.

The Workshop includes lectures and hands-on tutorials on widely used data analysis software tools. The event is open to scholars and scientists in any area related to Nanoscience and Nanotechnology and it is especially addressed to PhD students, postdocs and young researchers.

ToScAl’And is the fifth edition of the To.Sca.Lake workshop series that have been organized since 2015, within the initiatives of the Total Scattering Laboratory. After three blooming editions taking place on the Como Lake, the format was also successfully transferred to Latin America (To.Sca.Lat., Florianòpolis, Brazil) in 2018. Encouraged by these experiences, the 2021 edition will be organized in Spain, at the Faculty of Sciences of University of Granada.
