Programme

The ToScal’And Program includes lectures by well-recognized experts on fundamentals and applications of scattering techniques to nanomaterials, which will be complemented by hands-on tutorials on well renowned programs for DSE (Debussy) and PDF (PDFGui) analysis.

  • A GUIDED TOUR of the X04SA Material Science beamline of the Swiss Synchrotron (SLS) will be available by remote access.
  • A DEMO Light Scattering experiment will be presented on colloidal halide perovskite nanocrystals!

Outstanding experts on the synthesis and applications of classes of nanomaterials at the frontier of Nanotechnology will deliver dedicated lectures, complementing the ToScal’And scientific program.

Main Topics

  • Frontier Aspects of Engineered Nanomaterials for High-Tech, Energy, Environment and Bio Applications
  • X-ray Powder Diffraction and Beyond: Theory of Scattering and Experimental Techniques
  • Fundamentals of the Pair Distribution Function Analysis of Nanomaterials and Applications
  • Fundamentals of the Debye Scattering Equation Method and Applications to Nanomaterials
  • Small Angle X-ray Scattering Techniques
  • Electron Diffraction PDF Analysis
  • Static and Dynamic Light Scattering Techniques
  • Hands-on Sessions on PDFGUI and Debussy Software
  • New Equipment and Tools for Nanomaterial Characterization

Progressively during the next months, news about software downloads and installation procedures will be sent by email. Stay alert!

SHORT TALKS: The ToScal’And Program includes a short talk session (15-20 minutes each) from young participants. Those who intend to apply should declare it in the Registration form and send a 1-page long abstract (download the template from here) as a Word file to Toscaland@ugr.es. Rename the file as Name_Surname_Talk_Toscaland.docx. Contributions for talks will be selected on the basis of the potential interest to the audience, the coherence with the aim and scope of the workshop and the diversification of topics. Selected contributions will appear in the Final Program.

SPECIAL ISSUE: Attendees are invited to apply for contributions to the special issue Total Scattering Based Characterization Techniques for Nanostructures, guest-edited by Antonella Guagliardi & Federica Bertolotti, that will be published in the open access Nanomaterials Journal (MDPI), sponsor of ToScal’And.

2 articles from young attendees will be selected as free-of-charge contributions!
